If you are looking for a unique scent that can be your potential signature fragrances then check out Splash of Scent.

This online perfumerie is proudly from Los Angeles. For me, it encapsulates the attitude, pride and energy of LA in its 3 signature perfumes – Mai, Prim and Rose.

Mai – Has layers of citrus and floral notes.

Prim – Has fruity, floral and rosy notes.

Rose – Classic rose scent.

The bottle is simple, sleek and clean – very different from the loud and ostentatious bottle designs in the mainstream market. It has a classy and minimalist feel to it.

I chose the Mai variant for its fresh and citrusy scent. I am not really into strong floral scent that is why this one is perfect! The scent of the initial spray is pretty strong, so use sparingly. Once it dries and settles on the skin, the scent mellows and reveals the unique notes of the fragrance.  The scent lasts for a good 6-7 hours.

Right now Splash of Scent offers a way to try all three of their perfumes for only $9.50, which will be credited towards your next full-sized bottle purchase. I think that this is the best way to buy perfumes online - hassle free. How many times have we all purchased perfumes online and ended up not liking it? With this promotion, you get to try their perfumes before buying it.  Splash of Scent also stands by their products -100% If you are not happy with it, you can return it. (Check out their website for more detains on returns)

Their perfumes are free from paraben and phthalates. It is also cruelty free.

Since it is a new company and they only sell online, for sure there is a small chance that I will bump on to someone who smells exactly like me. This can be my signature scent! It smells good and different!

Dessert Table Very Moist Berry Recipe 5 Step mask has a good concept – you get all skincare needs in one pack making it perfect for people who are anxious about mix matching products and brands. It also works well for travelling.

The set contains a cleanser, toner, sheet mask, facial lotion and facial cream. The idea is to use all five items for a complete skincare regimen.

Step One: Cleanser

The cleanser is pretty good. It has a good lather and cleanses the skin without stripping it dry. It does not remove make up so make sure to use a make up remover first before using this.

Step Two: Toner

The toner is pretty good too. It actually feels more like a light essence. It is unscented and easily absorbed by the skin.

Step Three: Mask

The mask is just ok. It is very thin and has a protective foil backing that allows easy application. It is well drenched in unscented essence. I kept the mask on for 20 minutes and left a sticky and oily after-feel. I do not like adding up more stuff on my skin when it feels greasy so I splashed my skin with cold water to remove the residue from the essence.

Step Four: Lotion

The lotion is thin and has a slight floral scent. It is not easily absorbed by the skin. It took a while for the lotion to settle and dry.

Step Five: Cream

The cream is very thick in consistency. On top of the facial lotion, this cream becomes overkill to the whole hydrating process as it left my skin feel heavy and greasy.

Thoughts:

For me, this set is best used in the colder season as it provides extreme hydration to the skin.

For summer, it is best to use either the lotion or the cream but not both. The formula of the mask essence needs a bit of improvement.

I received this mask from Dessert Table for an honest review.

Super late post! I attended the Genbeauty Los Angeles last January 2018. Honestly, I wasn't really up to writing anything about this year's Genbeauty because I was pretty bitter about the disappointing outcome of the event.

The venue this year was bigger (and for sure better) compared to the previous years because it was held in a much sturdier and comfortable LA Convention Center (compared to LA Live tent). What made me bitter is the bag that comes with the ticket. It was a poor sized bag compared to the past bags that Genbeauty gave out to the attendees. The contents were not spectacular either.

The haul was not that great too. A lot of the brands were only giving out teeny tiny samples in exchange of a million and one social media requirements. Keep in mind that you line up for at least 30 minutes then you get a measly sample after following the brand and posting a selfie. Yup, not good.

Some brands like Luxie, Pixi, IBY and Pop Beauty did not disappoint. The lines moved fast and the gifts were generous!

Anyway, I am just putting it this way: I did not lose money - with the amount of ticket I purchased, I got at least the full value (and a bit more I guess) with all the products from the goodie bag and haul. It is not a big win but at least I did not lose.

Here are the contents of the goodie bag that comes with the ticket:

I stumbled upon Gloves in a Bottle a while back while scrolling on Facebook. My curiosity was stirred because I am handcream fanatic – I have hand cream in my car, in my bag in office drawer, desk – name it and for sure I have tube laying around there somewhere.  However, I noticed that no matter how many gallons of cream I use on my hands, it is still has a tendency to look dry a few hours after applying the cream. Same with lotions – specially the scented ones that I but from Bath and Body Works. It smells yummy but doesn’t really do much for my skin.

Gloves in a bottle claims that it is a shielding lotion and works by bonding with the outer layer of the skin to create an invisible shield. It protects the skin from irritants and toxins while keeping the natural oils and moisture needed to keep the skin moisturized. It works for dry and irritated skin as well as other skin conditions such as eczema and psoriasis. It is also diabetic friendly and works well on cracked feet.

This is not a cream – it is a lotion that is easily absorbed by the skin without leaving a greasy after-feel. Absorption is done in a matter of seconds. Once dry, I noticed the immediate difference. My skin looks more hydrated and soft to the touch. It even makes my dry cuticles look bearable.

I also love the fact that even after washing my hands, my skin doesn’t feel tight and dry. The moisture is still there.  I have to confess that I handwash my dishes without wearing gloves (because I am lazy to put it on) and that really dries my hands so bad. Good thing I have Gloves in a Bottle – because now I have a remedy for my bad habit! Hahaha J

Anyway, I really think that this lotion works. It is highly hydrating and works well on my skin. I have spots of eczema on my skin and keratosis pilaris on my arm. This lotion did not cause any flare ups or itchiness. Instead, it calmed down the redness and eventually tamed it down.

Gloves in a bottle is available on Amazon and at Ralphs.

MishiBox is a Korean beauty monthly subscription box.

It offers a combination of 4-6 deluxe and full-sized Korean beauty products each month. Subscription is $19.95 per month with free shipping.  They also offer an annual subscription rate of $239.40. This is the easiest and most affordable way to try and test Korean beauty brands.

Each box contains a card describing all the items in the box.  It also gives the instructions on  how to use the products.  This is very helpful since most labels and how to's are written in Korean.

Here is this month's box:

There really is no banner theme for Mishibox, instead it usually has a set idea that makes all the items complement each other. For this month, focus is on sun safety. It's just like agetting a complete sun care kit!

Here is a closer look of the items:

Healavie
Soft Cover Water Drop Sun Gel
Retail: 21

This perhaps is my favorite in the bunch. I am already a fan of this product and I am more than happy to have another tube to last me this summer. This very light sunscreen has spf 50+++ rating for for both UVA and UVB rays. It is highly moisturizing and it also gives the skin a velvety smooth finish without any white cast.

Holika Holika
Aloe 99% Soothing Gel
Retail: $6

This moisturizer is very lightweight and refreshing to the skin. It contains 99% aloe vera harvested from Jeju Island.

Choonee
Water Lip Tint Balm
Retail: $10

Summer is not really the time for a full thick make-up. This lovely tint balm gives a beautiful light and sheer pop pf color while moisturizing the lips.

Missha
Airy Fit Mask
Variant: Aloe
Retail: $2

This mask is 50% lighter than regular mask and is designed to stick on to the skin like mochi. How fun is that?!

Chamos
Moisture Elastic W-Line Breast Pack
Retail: $3

I have never used a breast pack before - so this is really very new to me. This hydrogel mask is designed to moisturize and plump the skin .

All in all the total value of this month's Mishibox is $42. It is double the amount of subscription which is not really spectacular. I hope that Mishibox will work on the value of products in their boxes. The sheet masks are great but is not really something that adds up to the worth of the box. Perhaps instead of giving one mask, they can give 2 or 3 (like Ipsy) of the same product.
