DIY Lotion Bar Recipe

Creating my own DIY skincare products has been my interest for the past year.  I have made whipped body cream, massage oils and aromatherapy mix for different minor ailments.  One project that I have been meaning to tackle to is the lotion bar. I honestly have not used a lotion bar before and I am pretty curious on how it will work on my skin.

One main ingredient in making lotion bars is beeswax. I checked and read several reviews of different beeswax brands online and found out that most of products out there have a smoky or burnt smell. One product that I found online seems to be more promising – it is 100% natural and it is safe for cosmetic and medicinal uses.  Most of all, it has a very mild aroma.

I was given a chance to try and test this beeswax from Deluxe Botanicals. I am very happy with this because it did not have any weird smoky or foul smell at all. The pellets are pretty big but I do not think that is a problem when creating projects. The color is golden yellow color and the texture of the pellets is smooth and shiny. It is perfect for any cosmetic and craft projects!
Here is the recipe to my lotion bars using the beeswax from Deluxe Botanicals.

LOTION BARS

Ingredients
¾ cup Beeswax Pellets
¼ cup Coconut Oil
½ cup Shea Butter
½ cup Cocoa Butter
1 tbs. Jojoba Oil
20 -30 Drops of your favorite Essential Oils
Molds

How To’s:

Mix and melt the beeswax, shea and cocoa butter in a double broiler or microwave. Note that the beeswax doesn’t melt fast. If you are using a microwave, do it in short bursts. Check on your concoction every few 30 seconds.

Once melted, add the coconut oil, jojoba oil and essential oils.

Immediately pour into molds and let it cool down completely until it hardens. You can also refrigerate it to quickly cool it down.

I used my Star Wars silicone ice/candy mold for quirkiness. I love how the lotion bars turned out! The smell is amazing and it really moisturizes my skin very well.

Wrap extra lotion bars in seran wrap for future use.
