I honestly think that the shape of this travel pillow is very good. Sleeping in the car/plane is not easy - it puts a lot of stress on the neck because the head tends to fall either towards the shoulder or the chest. The shape of this pillow prevents that from happening. The gray part is wider and thicker - this can be placed on the side where you normally rest your head.
